A Brief History of Kloppenburg Enterprises, Inc.

Kloppenburg Enterprises Inc. (KEI) is one of the oldest and most successful locally owned and operated family businesses in Guam. Founded in 1950 by the late Earl E. Kloppenburg, the company began with a luxury gift shop called The Guam Factors. Throughout the following years Earl Kloppenburg ventured into various other businesses including restaurants, retailing, in-flight kitchen services, and tourism related hospitality transportation, accommodations and entertainment.

In 1969 Earl opened Turtle Tours, a transportation and hospitality service provider, to fill the needs of ocean cruise ships that stopped on Guam twice a year for a short day tour.  Since those early days, Kloppenburg Enterprises, Inc. has expanded into hospitality transportation, specialty tours, mass transit servicing local residents, the military and our island visitors as well as the maintenance of School Buses.

KEI has been credited among Guam’s leading business standard bearers in terms of commitment and strength in the local economy employing thousands of people over the years and contributing to Guam’s community and growth. The company is the recipient of numerous awards and titles for its contributions and support of local civic and non-profit organizations from the Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Visitors Bureau to the American Red Cross and Sanctuary, Inc.  In 2008 Kloppenburg Enterprises, Inc. received the Jeffery Butland – Family Owned Business of the Year Award by the Guam Branch Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Because it is locally owned and operated, KEI understands local needs and how best to fill them. On many occasions, it has provided immediate support to our local government to supplement school bus operations or mass transit needs following disasters. It has provided transportation for numerous delegations hosted by the Government of Guam, the military and local civic organizations as well as sponsorship of local and international events bringing people and resources together for the betterment of the island and her people. In recent years, KEI has also provided regular shuttle services for military personnel and has provided additional mass transit support for visiting ships.

Kloppenburg Enterprises is committed to providing safe, affordable and dependable transportation and hospitality services. We are proud to maintain the best safety and on-time records on island moving tens of thousands of visitors and local residents in clean and well-maintained equipment.
